Disney Date Day

So Disney is our happy place.  Yours might be the beach, the lake, Ireland, whatever.  Ours is Disney.  People always ask us why we want to go back so often.  They assume we like Mickey Mouse.  They assume we are dorks (ok maybe that part is true).  But a big reason we like to go to WDW is for the atmosphere.  The theming.  The gorgeous weather.  It all ties in and makes it our happy place.

So, since this place is so far away and we only get to go once or twice per year, we have to get creative for those times when we are missing it.  We can look through old photos, souvenirs, etc.  We can listen to music- we both have the official album in our vehicles.  But sometimes, we have to get creative.

A few weeks ago, we spent an entire Sunday evening watching Disney touring specials on the Travel Channel.  Then, Joey got the idea to look at WDW on Google Maps.  It was fun to zoom in really far and check out how well the satellites can take pictures of stuff.  Kind of creepy.

This weekend, we decided to make a date of it.  Sunday afternoon we headed over to the mall to visit the Disney Store.  I will say that the Disney Store in Potomac Mills is pretty disappointing.  I'm used to the one at the King of Prussia Mall, and it's much better.  BUT.. it's still a Disney Store and so we like to go there from time to time to check out what they've got.  I don't think we've ever actually bought anything, but being surrounded by Disney merchandise sure makes you feel like you're at home in the parks ;)

After our visit to the Disney Store, we stopped at the food court for some "Morocco food".  Really it was a lamb gyro and some hummus... but we decided to pretend it was the Lamb Shawarma Platter at the Moroccan pavilion in Epcot...

On the way home, we blasted the music from Soarin, Ellen's Energy Adventure, and the music that plays when you walk through the turnstiles.

Are we total losers? Maybe. But for $15 (cost of food), it was a pretty inexpensive and fun way to get excited for our next trip (in January....).

Countdown?? Only 162 days to go!

ETA: I'm already planning our next Disney Date Day (DDD?) because I decided I'm tired of our lame excuse for a Disney Store, and I found THIS.   Tyson's Corner, here we come!!!!!!!!!!!!
