An Update from the Mrs.

Our wedding was absolutely perfect. From the gorgeous weather, to the beautiful flowers, our wonderful friends and family, and our lifelong vows and sparkling rings, we are so thankful that we were able to share it with so many of you!

We are anxiously awaiting the photos from our amazing photographers, Sanderson Images. They gave us a preview that has definitely whet our appetite for more! Check ‘em out under the Photo Gallery tab.

Our honeymoon was a wonderful way to relax and enjoy our first taste of married life! The Caribbean is truly beautiful, and it made me want to be a pirate more than ever! Ok just kidding… but I had to throw that in there. We had a wonderful time, and as soon as our underwater camera gets developed, I’ll be posting the honeymoon pictures as well!

This week has been largely filled with loads of laundry, carrying empty boxes to the dumpster, and beginning that overwhelming-yet-satisfying task of writing thank you notes. If you’d like to book me a hand massage that would be great!

As promised, I will begin to work on my wedding advice and vendor write-ups! I will try to get those up in the next week or so. Til then, I hope everyone has a safe and fun Halloween weekend. Boo to you!

Love,
Mrs. Gish

THANK YOU!

Well folks, here we are! The Gish Wedding weekend is upon us! The bags are packed, the dog is harnessed, and the beer is cold! So grab your tuxes and your cameras! It’s going to be a wild weekend!

I just wanted to take a few minutes to thank so many people who have helped me throughout the past 10 months in planning this huge event!

-My Fiance. Joey. You are my best friend, my confidante, my true love, and my biggest fan. I can’t believe the past three years have passed and here we are on our wedding weekend! I am so thankful to have you in my life. We have so much fun together and I know the rest of our lives will be just as much of an adventure! Thank you for all of your help, opinions, and support as we’ve planned this incredible weekend! I love you!

-My Mom. The craftiest lady around. From making the Save-the-dates to creating the wedding programs, she has been dedicating every free minute she has to make this wedding classy and creative. She has also been there to help me make every single important decision and given some really great advice along the way.

-My Dad. For saving the day! Having the wedding in PA of course means that we will have tons of relatives visiting the house. My Dad has been instrumental in fixing up the place for this weekend. He has been painting, hammering, cleaning, installing, etc. I especially can’t wait to see the new dishwasher when I arrive!

-My Mother-in-Law to be. Diane has been so wonderful throughout all the planning. She has given her opinion but maintained that it is our day and that we have the final say. Her support and generosity have been so wonderful and we truly appreciate everything she has done for us!

-My Father-in-Law to be. Couldn’t leave Joe Gish out. If there is one person in the world who will remember how to spell my name (Sarah-with-an-H) it will be him. And he’ll always offer me a beer when I sit down at his table.

-My Maid of Honor. Laura is the best sister in the world! From the bridal shower to the bachelorette party to preparing for this weekend, she has been there to help me through everything and has made this such a wonderful experience for me!

-My Bridesmaids. Gage, Kendayl, Shirin, Steph, Amanda. These ladies have worked SO HARD to make my wedding events go off without a hitch. They are all such amazing friends and I consider myself very lucky to have them all by my side on Sunday.

-Red Rockers. Believe it or not, Coaching the Red Rockers throughout my wedding planning process has helped to keep me sane. I love each and every one of you and I am so proud of how well you did at Caps Convention. Continue to make me proud out there! Rock the Red!!

-Facebook Friends. Don’t judge! I had to give a shoutout to all of my facebook friends/previous brides that have helped me when looking for invitations, my wedding dress, and other random wedding questions. You know who you are, and thank you!

-And finally, MY READERS! Whoever you are, thank you for reading my blog from January until now, 2 days before my wedding. It has been a really fun experience for me to keep track of how I did the planning. I’m hoping the way I did things will at least help somebody (whether it’s what-not-to-do or what TO do!).

I know there are others that I’d like to thank but let’s face it, everyone in my life has touched me in some way, and I truly feel like each person I’ve been in contact with has brought me to this very place and time. Weddings are a great time to sit and reflect on one’s life and all the people in it. It has been a wonderful experience for me. So THANK YOU to each and every one of you!

Now, without further ado….

Let the festivities begin!!!!

Signing off, for the very last time as

Crisis of the Day!

4 days to go! So far, the weather is looking GOOD!!! Keep praying and doing whatever you are doing, cause it’s working. Joey and I have been enjoying our last week together as single people, and I have been blessed with a sneak peak at what life married to a redneck is going to be like. On Tuesday night, he brought home the back haunches of a 6 pointer that his Dad got with a bow over the weekend….and proceeded to cut it up ON OUR KITCHEN COUNTER. Then he boiled the femur bone for Doc. Last night, he cooked us a delicious dinner… of deer fillets and mac and cheese. Sigh…..

We have also been running various last minute errands, tanning (me), getting beauty treatments (me), and doing some last minute shopping (me). Ok, so I don’t really know what Joey has been doing other than helping with the laundry but that’s ok. We are semi-packed for the honeymoon. And by that I mean that most of what we want to bring is laying on the floor near/around our suitcases so we can decide what we are actually bringing. Doc has taken the opportunity as free bed-making/bone burying material.

On to the title topic of this entry. My poor Mother. She told me earlier this week that she does not want ANY wedding drama to go through me anymore. She asked me to tell my friends to “Bring the Drama to my Mama”…. Seriously… she said that. But I think she was referring to people backing out at the last minute (yes, this has happened!) and not the daily crises which she has been dealing with. Yesterday, it was the fish tank in my Dad’s office which had apparently leaked ALL over the rug. Know anybody that wants a 4 inch Plecostomus? Today, Best Buy is refusing to install our new dishwasher, which leaves us with a gaping hole in the kitchen, no running water, and a house full of people due to arrive on Friday. Awesome.

Here’s hoping that the rest of the week/weekend will run smoothly! Only a couple days of work left, thank goodness. Tomorrow is my pal Kristie’s birthday, and to get the weekend started right we are all going out to dinner. People think I’m crazy for organizing birthday things right before my wedding but honestly, it’s good to keep me occupied!

Hoping to do at least one more update before the big day!

Love,
Sarah

Single Digits

I just wanted to announce that a) It is OCTOBER, and b) we are in the single digits! That’s right folks, 9 days away from being Mr. and Mrs.! But first thing’s first, gotta head up to State College, PA for the wedding of close family friend, Christy. I think it will be good to attend a wedding the weekend before my wedding. Why? I don’t think I’m crazy, I think it will help me to get into the wedding spirit, and take it as sort of a dry run about how our day will go, how we will be feeling, etc. Especially since the last wedding we attended was over a year ago.

The weather is still a bit of a worry for me. It has been POURING rain the past few days and thankfully, it has cleared up into a blustery fall day today, and tomorrow it is going to be gorgeous for Christy and Josh’s big day! I am still hopeful that the 10 day forecast is accurate on weather.com…. and that it really will be sunny and 70 on Sunday Oct 10th! Pray with me now!

I started packing last night for the honeymoon. Or at least tried to. I got 2.5 loads of laundry done, packed my bathing suits, 2 clutches, and a beach bag. But then I got distracted by wine and Jersey Shore… at least I am trying here!

Now that we are in the single digits, there isn’t really much else that can be done except wait. One week from today I’ll be already on my way to PA. I’m working a half day and Joey is off, so we’ll be packing up our little family (Doc is going to become our legitimate child!) and heading up to Paoli. We’re going to meet up with our family that is traveling from SD and TX, and enjoy a nice dinner to kick off the weekend.

At this point I’m just rambling. I have nothing else really to share as all the planning is done and the excitement is building! I hope this blog has been helpful to my fellow wedding planners, entertaining to those of you that read it, and memorable for me to look back at after it’s all been said and done. After the wedding is over I’ll write about all of my vendors, my recommendations and advice, and obviously share the photos when they come back from the photographers. Fair warning though- it’s going to take a while. I am fully prepared for this and I completely understand why (because they are AWESOME).

In the mean time, you’ll have everyone else’s Facebook photos, our cruise updates and photos, (and by the way, I’m going to try really hard to make our honeymoon photos entertaining. Cause I know full well how boring honeymoon photos can be!), and various site updates by techy bridesmaids while we’re away!

I suppose that is enough rambling for one Friday. Have a great weekend everyone, and CONGRATULATIONS to CHRISTY and JOSH!!!

Love,
Sarah
