Blast from the Past

I recently came across an old thumb drive while looking for my Garmin watch transponder thingy that plugs into the computer and transmits your workout data.  So I only plugged this thing in because I thought it was the Garmin product.  Imagine my surprise when I found a whole bunch of pictures I thought I had lost!

Most of them are pictures from my season with the Wizards.  We all thought we were such hot stuff!! I was cracking up looking through the photos and also feeling sad that I no longer have that body... but glad I'm not a blonde anymore ;) (and also not Snooki tan!)

Joey helped me pick out a few to share on the blog.  I hope you enjoy them!!

Oh HAY THERE

Trouble with a capital T.

Friday I was so happy to get out of work on time and get home with relatively little traffic.  It had been a long, crazy week with alot of working overtime and driving between locations.  I was really looking forward to a relaxing evening with a beer.   Joey was working late so I got home and let the dogs out and fed them dinner.  They wanted to go back outside so I went out to chaperone because they have had a bit of a project going on lately...

Now, I know you haven't seen much of our backyard but here is an old pic from last summer.  As you can see, the porch is relatively low to the ground.

As you can also see, a Miniature Pinscher can fit very easily underneath the porch.  But a human being cannot.  I have been asking Joey FOREVER to put up some chicken wire to keep them from going underneath there.  Who knows what could be under there?? Snakes? Spiders? ......Rabbits?

Oh yes.  Doc and Chloe figured out that a family of rabbits had moved in under the porch.  Just a few days ago they chased one out of the yard.  So while I'm waiting for Joey to cover up the 'entranceway', I've been escorting the dogs outside with treats in hand, just in case they need to be quickly distracted.

Well, long story short, I suddenly heard alot of rustling coming from under the porch.  Both dogs were under there and they were refusing to come out when I called them and offered treats.  Then I heard what hunters refer to a "rabbit-in-distress call"... except it was real and it was horrible.  There was nothing I could do.
:(
The dogs were tag-team cornering the baby bunny under the porch.  They would not listen to me and I was FREAKING OUT.

If you didn't know, Min Pins were bred to kill rats and other small animals in farm houses in Europe.  So you can imagine what happened next.....

Fast forward a proud Pin with his prize, an angry Mom, and 2 dogs locked up in the bathroom upstairs.

The dogs spent the rest of the weekend dying to go back outside.  I was disgusted and traumatized.  Joey came home, thought the whole thing was funny, and told me he thought it would be a good idea to put up the chicken wire now.

Stifling Laughter

While I truly feel for the people of this village and their very unfortunate situation, I also can't help but laugh...

F**king residents want their town name changed

I hope everyone has a marvelous weekend!!

Berry Photo Dump

Once again, you will be treated to a completely pointless dump of poor quality photos taken on my ancient blackberry.

The inspiration for this was actually yesterday while at the Navy yard, when I went for a walk to get coffee and noticed a lot of people on the roof of the parking garage.  I realized the Space Shuttle Discovery was about to fly over, and I ran up 6 flights of steps just in time to watch it fly directly over where I was standing.  It was awesome. I was glad to have my berry to snap a few shots for my family.  Even though they aren’t quality, they are still proof that I did see it in person!

The next picture is slightly a lot more random. I was making “Davis Beans” with our dinner on Sunday night and I was really excited to show my Dad.  Davis Beans are made with a super secret combo of those ingredients you see there.  And a lot of love.

The last pic is one I took while I was driving. OK Major nono. But I was in pretty much dead stopped traffic.  So you can’t really see it, but I thought it was kind of funny because the “Dad” sticker had very obviously been removed.  Yikes!!!

Are you totally impressed that there weren’t any Pin Pics? I know I am!  Happy Hump Day!

Farewell Thee Lollipop Tree

Finally!!! We have started to tame the jungle!!!

We worked hard this weekend on raking leaves (yes, we waited until now), chopping down trees, manicuring Grandmother Willow, and making big plans for our little half acre!

Here are a couple "before" pictures so you can see the jungle in all its' glory...

To the left side of the porch, you can see the lollipop tree and the rest of the jungle

There are also some random trees, shrubs, and a holly bush
And here are the afters- after a perilous afternoon involving a chainsaw and a trip to the dump when we had to pull over no less than three times to keep wayward branches from flying out of the bed of the truck...

Hooray! The jungle is GONE!

No more holly tree!
So now what are we going to do?  You are probably wondering why we kept those two random little fir trees.  Well don't worry, since I have skillz I can show you what my plans are.  First we're going to re-plant the fir trees on either side of the stairs.  Then we'll get some hanging plants for the porch.  I'll have to weed and clean up the flower beds before we put down fresh mulch, and of course, some more flowers.  These are my plans for next weekend.  Let's see if I can do it!

I know you are impressed with my paint skills. Just admit it!!  I'll be sure to check in on our progress.  Promise!

Moving on-

We also worked in the backyard by raking and raking and raking and trying to avoid all the creepy crawlies and then shoving leaves into trashbags.  The backyard isn't really done yet so I'll just show you a picture of the aftermath...

Oh! While I'm at it I also wanted to tell you about this awesome game we are playing lately.  We bought the house in August, so we've never been here during the Spring season.  So lately we've been playing the game called "Guess What Kind of Tree/Flower/Plant This Is!".  It's actually been kind of fun to see what's blooming in our yard.  Here's a little peek :-)

I hope everyone's week is off to a great start, and that your thumb is feeling at least a little bit green after reading this post!

aDOCtion Day!

Two years ago today, after I got a ticket for running a red light on my way home from work, Joey and I drove waaaaay out 66W to check out this little tiny Miniature Pinscher.

He was so tiny, so scared, and I held him on my lap the whole way home.

Little did we know that he was the spunkiest, loviest, most loyal little Pin that has ever lived.  And we are so grateful to have him in our lives!!

Happy Adoption Day Doc!!! We love you!!!!!

Wineries

Last weekend we were lucky to be invited on a little winery tour with our newly engaged friends, Ryan and Jess.  We hopped in a limousine with a few friends and alot of champagne and jammed out to ridiculous music for the hour ride from DC out to Loudon County.

We made 3 stops-
1. Corcoran
2. Doukenie
3. Beaux

We took a ton of pictures and most of them have been posted to Facebook, so I edited a couple so you'd feel like you hadn't seen them before ;)

The happy couple!

The other happy couple :)

Jess with two of her bridesmaids!!

Things got a little crazy...
We had a really great time being chauffered around doing wine tastings and eating a freaking DELISH lunch that Jess made.  OMG pasta salad and amazing fried buffalo chicken. I'm still craving it.  Things got a little  out of hand towards the end of the day, but only one glass got broken and we didn't leave anybody behind so I consider it a successful trip.

Bonus- we brought back several bottles of wine with us!!

Hope everybody is having a great week. I'm busy as a bee!

Not Another Pin Pic. I Promise.

I like to save these surveys for a rainy day. Or a day when all I have are dog photos cause I was alone all weekend and therefore starved for content.

So, instead of more dog pictures, you get this. A survey I borrowed from a couple blogs I read (Thanks Heather and Bethany!). Enjoy!

A is for age.  27.  Other than the fact that I hate odd numbers, it’s not so bad.

B is for breakfast today.  Coffee with French Vanilla creamer, and a cinnamon raisin bagel toasted with ample cream cheese.

C is for current craving.  Avocados.  My friend Laura made this recipe last weekend, and I ate it UP.

D is for dinner tonight.  Chicken Casserole and Mashed potatoes. Don’t think I’m some miracle worker.....look on the back of the Stovetop Stuffing box.

E is for favorite type of exercise.  Dance.  Because to me, it doesn’t feel like work.

F is for irrational fear.  I have irrational fears about everything from airplanes falling out of the sky to a crazed murderer breaking into my house at night.  I think it’s what makes me, me.

G is for gross food.  Dinner Sunday night. It was a soft taco casserole kit and I felt so sick after eating it that I still can’t even think about it.

H is for hometown.  Paoli PA

I is for something important.  Family.  Friends will come and go, but your family will be there forever (whether you like it or not!) ;)

J is for current jam.  “Without You” by David Guetta/Feat. Usher

K is for Kids. You know my thoughts on this ;)

L is for current location.  Woodbridge, VA.  (I do not live in the ghetto. A rant for another day…)

M is for the most recent way you spent money.  Paid our mortgage.  Oh sorry, were you looking for something more exciting??

N is for something you need.  An oil change.  Well, my car needs one.

O is for occupation.  Analyst. I wear many hats and I like it that way. I meet lots of people and have interesting experiences. I also work for a pretty awesome company.

P is for pet peeve.  I’ve spoken of this in the past. Dancers/Cheerleaders that don’t take the hair ties off their wrists before performing.  Is that part of the uniform? I don’t think so.

Q is for quote. Got a bunch of crap for putting this one on my bio once….
“There are big ships and small ships, but the best ship of all is FRIENDSHIP!”

R is for random fact about you.  When I was little, I used to turn on music and choreograph dances for my My Little Ponies.

S is for favorite healthy snack.  Healthy? Umm…

T is for favorite treat.  A Pineapple Dole Whip sounds delicious right now.  (Google it)

U is for something that makes you unique.  I’d say my purple nail polish with pink glitter is pretty unique at the moment ;)

V is for favorite vegetable.  Is Avocado a vegetable?

W is for today’s workout.  It’s Tuesday so normally I’d say dance class. But the studio is closed for spring break, so we’ll be running again tonight.

X is for x-rays you’ve had.   Dental. A lot.

Y is for yesterday’s highlight.  I made breaded chicken and didn’t burn it!!!!!!

Z is for your time zone.  Eastern Daylight Time.  Thank goodness for that.

Pin Weekend

Joey went down to the Property this weekend to shoot his new gun, so the Pins and I stayed home and relaxed.  Well, we tried to.  It's always a little creepy in the house when Joey's not here. Especially at night.  Luckily my Pins took great care of me.  Friday night Chloe stayed on watch.  She stayed outside of the covers and faced the door, ears perked.  I don't think she got much sleep cause on Saturday she was exhausted!! Saturday night it was Doc's turn.  He stayed out of the covers and stood watch all night long.  I can't believe my little Pins wanted to protect me.  It was the cutest thing how they took turns.  Animals never cease to amaze me.

We had a lovely weekend watching the "Dog the Bounty Hunter" marathon and spending time outside.

I am also happy to report that "Laundry-Fest 2012" is officially OVER.  The only dirty clothes we have are the ones we are wearing! Believe me, this is a huge feat.  Unfortunately, "Laundry-Fest 2012" has given way to "The Great Hanger Shortage".... oh well. You win some you lose some.

Since it was me and the Pins all weekend, you get an extra dose of Pin today as I had my camera out and snapped a bunch of pics.

Happy Monday!

Doc
