House Update

This post is way overdue.

So I thought the moment we "got" a house we'd take a picture of me, Joey and Doc outside of it with a SOLD sign and huge smiles and rainbows, unicorns and butterflies.

But the process has been so painstaking that at this point, I'm SO over the idea of a cute little photo and I JUST WANT TO BE IN MY DAMN HOUSE.

Let me annotate our adventure for you:

February 2011: We went house hunting and found a short sale we liked.  We put in an offer and it was ratified and then we started the 60 day waiting process that accompanies all short sales.

March 2011: We got tired of the terrible selling agent who did not know what she was doing, found another short sale in the same neighborhood, put in an offer and got ratified, and started the 60 day waiting process on THAT one.

April-June 2011: We waited.

June 2011: We were still waiting for said short sale when a foreclosure in Joey's parent's neighborhood dropped in price by almost 40k.  We went to go look at it because MIL is a real estate agent and was curious.  We loved it.  We put in an offer.

3 Days Later:  We were approved on the foreclosure.

2 Days After That: The short sale approval came through.

**Holy crap, we were approved on 2 houses at once**

After alot of deliberation (do I REALLY want to live 10 houses down from my in-laws??) we decided to go with the kick-a$$, 3,000 sq ft, colonial "southern plantation" (yes, I'm calling it that) in the same neighborhood as Joey's parents.

We have been approved and should have the final word from the loan underwriter early next week.  Our closing date will be in late August.

So... there was no "announcement".  Because honestly at this point who knows if we will actually get the place (I am SO skeptical about anything 'house' at this point).

But the good news is we are 95% of our way to being home owners.  And I actually am really excited.  It helps that Joey's Grandma bought us a bedroom set.  Which was really cool considering our current "set" consists of an old bed, random IKEA furniture, and a lamp from like junior year in college...

Whoop! New Bedroom Set!

But that's the update.  I promise to act more excited (and share pictures) once we have the actual keys IN HAND.
