A funny thing happened...
It all started with the cat. You know, the cat that we thought was a girl, turned out to be a boy? The one that my in-laws accidentally (suuuuure) left outside overnight and completely destroyed the weather-stripping around their door? Yep. That one.
This weather-stripping-destroying-animal was the reason my MIL and I found ourselves at Lowe's yesterday, after a quick trip to Michaels to get supplies for the family room CORNICES!! Woooohooo!!!
And a funny thing happened as we were walking down the curtain aisle. We saw my fabric!!! It was being used as an example for window treatments- both curtains AND cornices!! Hoooooly C! This totally reaffirmed my confidence in choosing the right fabric. Obviously some high end designer person also thought it would look good on windows!!!
Check it out:
After our fun field trip, we put together the first one with some foam board. It's actually disgustingly easy, even for someone like me who is def craft-challenged. I managed not to cut off my finger with an exacto knife, and cut a relatively straight line... the worst part was actually just measuring everything tediously. After cutting all the foam board, we stuck it together with T pins, and then hot glued that mother together. Next step is to cover the whole thing with batting, and then pin the fabric down and voila!! Dunzo.
Other noteworthy house updates from this weekend:
-Bought and (Joey) installed new locks on all doors. Desparately needed. Don't have pics, sorry.
-Realized we need to paint our front door BAD.
-Bought a pretty mirror to hang in the dining room.
-Framed our new artwork we purchased at Disney. (It's beachy! It's bathroomy! Pics to come!)
-Acquired some knick knacks for the family room.
-Got some "pet stairs" for the dogs to use to get onto the bed instead of their current plastic-crate-stepstool. Which would be great if they werent both terrified of it...
Other updates:
-Joey's birthday is tomorrow!
That is all.

Finally a Princess!
Well, my months of training paid off and I earned my crown on 2/26/12.
I finished the race in 2 hours, 31 minutes, and 55 seconds. Overall, I felt it was a good race. Notice I didn’t say “great”. I felt good, but my knee started hurting on mile 4. Throughout training my knee never bothered me!! Apparently this happened to a lot of people. I discovered the Tylenol being handed out like candy at the medical stations around mile 9. I took full advantage. Also, I wore specific socks (with pirates on them). They were running socks, but they were too thin. I think this was a contributing factor to my knee pain. Also… it was CROWDED. I mean shoulder-to-shoulder crowded. Like even if I wanted to weave about in the first 3 miles, I simply couldn’t.
Even though I’m making all these excuses, I feel like I don’t need to. I got my 2nd best time EVER. First half marathon I ever did, I came in at just under 3 hours. The last time I ran this course, I got 2:45. So coming in right around 2:30 was both what I expected and what I did!! I did not beat 2:28, which is my PR, but I don’t mind. I am proud of how I did and what I did to achieve this. 3 months ago, I could barely even run 1 mile without walking…
If you are bored and interested in tracking my progress, I kept a running log from day 1 of training up until the week of the race over at Athlinks.com.
So, what’s next??
That is a great question. I don’t know. Every time I run a half marathon, I tell myself it will be my last. Maybe that is true. Maybe it’s not. And dare I even utter the "m" word??? ...It's crossed my mind. If I'm going to ever do it, now would be a good time.
I'll let you all mull that one over and let me know what you think ;)

We're back!
Hello! We flew in this afternoon and just picked up the pups. We came home (in the pouring rain!! wtf??), ate pizza for dinner and now we're settling in to watch the 'Sons of Guns' season premiere at 9. We are simple folk, but I love our life!
We had a great trip. Please excuse me for a couple of days while I get my shiz together. In the meantime, please enjoy a few of my favorite photos!
For those following the Half Marathon stuff- I had a great race. Not a PR but it was my 2nd best time ever and 15 minutes faster than I ran on the same course 2 years ago. So I'd say it was a success!! I'll fill you in on more details later :)
Our trip was a blast. We are sunburnt, tired, and dreading opening our inboxes at work tomorrow.
The pins are exhausted. They had a great time on their "vacation" at the vet, but they are completely pooped.
I think that's a good enough update for now. Be back soon!!

Mushy Survey
Saw this survey on a few blogs over Valentine's Day, but since I'm always behind the curve I'm just getting to it now. I figured it would be a good way to keep you entertained while I'm gallavanting around Orlando ;)
1. How long have you and your significant other been together?
We've been together since July of 2007… so… about 4.5 years. Wow.
2. How did you meet? {What's your "love" story?}
Oh our love story is really classy. We met in college through mutual friends. But we didn't really fall in love until we started hanging out after college. We were still partying like we were IN college, however, and lots of beers aided in our interest in each other. We started hanging out and eventually went on our first "date"- to the movies to see "Transformers"...haha That was when I realized I really liked him J
3. If married, how long have you been married? If not, is this the guy you hope to marry? {do tell}
We got hitched on 10-10-10. This October it will be 2 years.
4. If you are married, where did you get married at? Big or small wedding? If not, where would you like to get married? And will it be big or small?
We got married in the town where I grew up in Pennsylvania. We had a medium size wedding with about 150 guests. It was a gorgeous day and we were married outside under a gazebo.
5. Do you have any nick-names that you call one another? Do share!
Umm we have a bunch of dumb ones, your typical "babe" or "boo", and yes, "Mommy" and "Daddy" in reference to the dogs. Whatever. This blog is a judge-free zone, FYI!
6. Name 3 things you love most about your honey.
-I mentioned this one before- he is terrible at keeping secrets. Which makes it 10x more adorable when he successfully does this and I end up with a surprise!
-He is so thoughtful and creative. Always knows how to make me smile.
-He is my protector. He has taught me how to protect myself (with words, not just guns…haha) but I know that he has my back 100% and will always take good care of me, no matter what.
-He LOVES Disney. It's the cutest thing EVER.
-He's my best friend.
-Ok that was 5 things…
7. Tell us how he proposed? Or your ideal proposal?
He proposed in our apartment, just the two of us, after driving to Pennsylvania and back in one day to ask my parents' permission. It was private, just the two of us (and his dog, Bandit), and I wouldn't have wanted it any other way. I was working in pro-sports at the time, and I've seen a ton of public proposals. They all make me so nervous, I told him I'd say no if he did that to me. (Jokinggg)
8. Is he a flowers and teddy bear kind of guy for v-day, or strawberries, champagne, and rose petals?
Apparently he is a surprise-you-at-work-with-roses kind of guy. And a meet-you-at-the-door-with-champagne kind of guy J
9. Are you a sunset dinner on the beach kind of girl, or pop a movie in and relax on the couch?
I think I am a sunset beer on the beach kind of girl…
10. Tell us one thing you'd like to do with your significant one day. If you could do anything? Go anywhere?
I already wrote a whole post about this and put up a poll. Nexxxt.
11. Give us one piece of advice of keeping a relationship strong and full of love.
Take turns doing the dishes.
