Monday morning came bright and early for us. We found out on Friday that Peyton was coming home from Iraq!!!!!! Well we were not going to let our brother-from-another-mother fly into Dulles without any fanfare. So we organized a little gathering to ensure that Peyton knew how much he means to us!
His flight was set to land at 6:45am on Monday. Early? Yes. But worth it. Sunday night, we checked the flight tracker. The flight was running AN HOUR EARLY. Did we back down? Nope. We woke up at o’dark thirty and drove to the airport (yes, even Joey) to welcome home our hero.
Wait, is Peyton in the military? No, he is a military contractor. His company works with the Iraqis teaching them how to repair their vehicles. Peyton is a highly certified mechanic, and really enjoyed his job there. Even though he is not a soldier, he was still subject to the same stress, homesickness, threats, and nighttime rushes to the bunker. I believe that Peyton, while not a soldier, has certainly served our Country and done it well. So thank you for your service, P!
Here are some pictures. Don’t judge me on my looks, it was 5am:

Teddy thought a Shake Weight was a very American gift. |
Welcome home, P. We are glad you are safe, sound, and for all the experiences you had and friends you made. But dammit don’t do that to us again, ok?!?!?!
All 7 welcomers, and one happy Peyton (well two, cause one is his brother.) |
